Figuring out my camera. And I don’t mean learning to shoot in manual.
It’s not the ISO or the lens or whether it is a Canon or Nikon or whatever.
It’s not even the light or the composition or the subject matter.
When I first began shooting with my Big Girl Camera less than 3 years ago, I thought it was about those things.
Now I realize it’s about nothing other than a need to shoot.
I need to document.
I need to have images of my everyday.
I need to record my story, for myself and my kids.
Along the way I did learn, and continue to learn about all those things — lenses, light, ISO, aperture, composition, editing, style, processing.
I read five billion blogs and stalked 10 thousand photographers whose work I admired. I tried lots of different things and still do.
But now that I know all that, I realize I could do a pretty good job with a point and shoot if I had to.
