Obama Rally – MacArthur High School – Hollywood, Florida – 2012

I’m not going to make a big political statement here. I spent 8 hours yesterday, on my feet, in the sun, at a rally in Hollywood, Florida, to see the president and support him in this reelection.

An estimated 23,000 other people did, too.

Those people were:

old, young, families, single folks, gays, Jews, Hispanics, blacks, whites, disabled, college students, people who don’t speak English, people who speak multiple languages, people from Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Bahamas….

You get the idea.

A few words about these photos:

I’m starting with an image of a lady who I shot on Saturday morning, while waiting for clients to arrive at a session. She had nothing to do with the rally, but I definitely wanted to include her.

She asked me to take her photo, and explained that she wanted to post the image on Wednesday morning, “because Obama winning the election will be as beautiful as this sunrise here at the beach.”

Now that is the kind of hope, spirit, and genuine optimism I can eat up like a bag of salt and vinegar chips.

And a shout out to our friend, Joe Cavaretta, who is an amazing photographer for the Sun-Sentinel. You can find him 10 images down. He was covering the event for the paper and created THIS amazing and creative video of the enormous line of people who waited to see the president.

If you haven’t already done so, please vote. I don’t care if you live in a state where your vote “doesn’t matter.” Cast it anyway.

Toss it in the mix like a shiny penny into a fountain.

Put your wish on it.
